Fake Punt Perfect: Rockets stop Webster 21-6

Dylan Hollis (39) catches a pass from Nick Castiller (15) and turns
up field for some of 103 yards receiving.
MARION, Ky. – Noah Dickerson's third-quarter pass to Dylan Hollis on a fake punt gave Crittenden some much needed momentum and lifted the Rockets to their third win in four games this season.

Critenden County beat visiting Webster County 21-6 but the Homecoming Game's outcome was certainly in limbo after the Trojans (1-4) had taken the opening kickoff in the second half and gone the length of the field on a long drive, which ended with a touchdown pass by QB Dylan Baty. That score put Webster within two, 8-6, of the Rockets' early advantage. And, the Trojans had seemingly found a chink in Crittenden's defensive armor by running between the tackles and converting on short passes. Until that drive, Webster was unsuccessful at moving the ball.

The Rockets were on their heels, facing a fourth and 14 when Dickerson dropped back to punt, but found Hollis free over the middle for a 30-yard first-down pass that put CCHS on the Webster 38. Keeping the drive alive two plays later, Hollis caught 12-yard pass from quarterback Nick Castiller to move into the red zone. Castiller finished it off with an 11-yard TD run and 15-6 lead, giving the hosts some breathing room.

Hollis finished the game with 103 yards receiving on five catches and he rushed for 14. The junior's defense was strong, too. He and teammate Adam Beavers stopped Webster's conversion pass in the first half, which kept the Trojans from tying the game.

Beavers rose to the forefront again in the third quarter when he recovered a Webster fumble after teammate Travis McKinney shook it loose. That turnover came right after the Rockets' second touchdown and gave them a chance to put the game away early in the fourth period on Lane Wallace's touchdown.

Wallace finished with 102 yards rushing and Crittenden defense held Webster to just 65 net yards on the ground.
