Rocket football coach Al Starnes early in his career

=======================

COACH SEAN THOMPSON

Coach Thompson was the first Crittenden County graduate to become head football coach at his alma mater. He coached three seasons, compiling a record of 28-8 with three district championships and three trips to the state Class A quarterfinals.

Thompson resigned in the spring of 2021 to accept the head coaching position at Paducah Tilghman.

Thompson was a 2004 graduate of Crittenden County High School where he was a quarterback.

He played as a receiver in college at Campbellsville University.

His father, Sheldon, was a defensive end at Florida State.

Thompson served as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach before being named the new skipper at CCHS to replace 27-year head coach Al Starnes in January of 2018. Starnes retired from coaching after the 2017 season as the winningest coach in school history.

Thompson first joined the Rocket football coaching staff in 2009 then left to spend a few years at Union County with then-Braves head coach Steve Carter (a former Rocket assistant).

Thompson returned to Crittenden as offensive coordinator in 2014 and was four years later named the 15th head football coach in Crittenden County High School history.
