Caldwell County averaged 1.43 yards per rush against CC last week. That amount is the fifth time in the past nine games the Rocket defense has held its opponent to an average per rush of 1.65 yards or less. CC won the four other contests besides last week’s game.

Last week was only the fourth time in school history that a Rocket team was shutout in a game when it had an active player on the team that rushed for more than 1,000 in the prior season.
CC had 120 penalty yards last week which was the most penalty yards in a season opener in the last 33 seasons. The statistic may go further back but penalty yards for season openers prior to 1989 are not available.
Since 2001, the Rockets have had 100 or more penalty yards in a game only eight times. Four of those eight have come in the past 16 games. The other four took place over the course of 200 games.
The 18 first downs by Caldwell County were the most by an opponent in a Crittenden County season opener since the 2005 which happened to also be against Caldwell.
The three interceptions thrown last week were the most in a season opener since 2007 versus Massac County when four where thrown.
Only one time in the past 13 season openers have the Rockets surrendered more passing yards than they did last week against Caldwell County. The defense gave up 354 passing yards to Fulton City in 2014 in the season opener.
