The late Randy Poindexter (#33) was a senior linebacker on the 1974 Rocket Football Team.  He was named team MVP and was on the ALL-WKC First Team.  Poindexter is the father of former two-time ALL-WKC player, Jeremy Poindexter (1993-1996) and grandfather of current Rocket football players Brayden & Conner Poindexter.

2024 Class 2A, District 1 Review

  • Mayfield (1-2) – Fell to Paducah Tilghman, 41-10, and will take on McCracken County in Paducah this week.
  • Murray (2-1) – Beat Marshall County, 34-19.  The Tigers will take on Union County at home this week.
  • Caldwell County (1-2) – Caldwell travels to Grave this week.

Playoff Preview Class 2A, District 2

  • Owensboro Catholic (3-0) – OC will take on the Owensboro Red Devils (1-2).  The closest game this season for the Aces has been 33 points.    
  • Todd County Central (1-2) – Lost to Webster County 23-20.  They still look like the team that will take 2nd place in the second district.
  • Edmonson County (2-1) – EC is a weak two-win team as their wins have come against opponents that combine for an 0-6 record this season.   Expect Caverna to come out on top this week in its matchup. 
  • Fort Campbell (0-3) – Sitting at 0-3 is less than impressive.  0-4 is quite probable and so to might the second seed in the district.  Not much will be known about this team until its October 4th matchup with Edmonson County.

  • Caden Howard had 137 yards receiving which is the 16th most in a game in school history.  Howard’s personal best is 145 receiving yards against Webster County in 2023.
  • CC had zero penalties last week.  Only one time in the last 92 games has CC had zero penalties other than last week (Fulton County in 2021).
  • The last time CC had less than the three first downs it had last week was round 1 of the 2014 playoffs against Owensboro Catholic (112 games).
  • CC had -10 rushing yards last week.  That total is the lowest since week 2 of the 2021 season versus Madisonville when CC had -17.  The school record is -25 against Russellville in 1969.
