Pre-Game Warmup : Trigg County

Week 1 Wrap-Up

  • 6 points were the fewest points allowed in week 1 since 1988 (6 pts. vs. McLean Co.)
  • 6 points have been given up in week 1 three times (2011, 1988, 1963).
  • The only time fewer points were surrendered in a season opener was in 1984 against McLean County when the Rockets recorded a shutout (29-0).
  • In the past 64 games, CC has won a game while recording only 212 or fewer total yards only twice. This past Friday night the Rockets had 212 yards and the other occurrence was in 2010 against Ballard Memorial when CC only had 195 total yards in the 34-18 win.
  • Grant Gardner scored a special teams touchdown and a defensive touchdown in week one.
  • The last player to accomplish this feat in the same game for the Rockets was T.K. Guess in 2005 against Russellville (fumble recovery return and a punt return).
  • Grant Gardner scored 3 TDs three different ways (punt return, rushing, fumble recovery return) in week 1.  The record for scoring the most ways in a single game is held by Denis Hodge who scored four different ways against South Hopkins in 1985 (rushing, fumble return,
  • receiving and punt return).
  • Last week was the first time since week 7 of the 2007 season that a CC player has recorded three sacks in a game. Devin Wallace had three sacks last week and Aaron Berry tallied three against Ballard Memorial in 2007. The record for most sacks in a game by a CC player is four which is held by Mike Wheeler (1979, Russellville).
  • The 179 rushing yards by Dustin Hernandez were the most rushing yards by a Rocket since the region championship game in 2009 when J.D. Gray ran for 205 yards in his final game, and in a season opener since 2008 when Rodney Robertson rushed for 258 yards against Lake County (TN), and in a home opener since 1997 when David Beverly rushed for 215 yards on 22 carries against Heath.
