Kickoff Notes for Sadler Bowl at Trigg County

STRAIGHT TALK FROM CAMP ROCKET
The word from practice this week is that Jared Brown, the Rockets'
strength and conditioning coach, (pictured above) has been directed
by head coach Al Starnes to 'Get the boys in better shape.' Seems
the head ball coach hasn't been too pleased with the condition
of his crew, even in the early quarters. You know what that means!
Week 1 Wrapup
- The Rocket defense held its opponent to single digits in its second consecutive season
opener which is the first time that has happened since the 1998 and 1999 seasons
when 9 and 7 points were allowed, respectively.

- 12 points have been allowed in the last two season openers combined which is the
fewest points in consecutive season openers since the 1983 and 1984 seasons when only
6 points were allowed combined.

- The last time the Rockets allowed less than 135 total yards of offense in a game was in week 1
of last season when they gave up 101 yards to Hopkins Central.

- With the three consecutive extra points kicks by Micah Hollamon in week 1, he now has
made six straight dating back to last season.  The school record is 14 held by Jeremy
Lander and George Congenie.

- With Grant Gardner's first career 200-plus-yard rushing performance, he and his older brother,
Blake, become only the second pair of brothers to have 200-plus-yard rushing performances as
Crittenden County Rockets.  Donny and David Beverly are the other pair.  Donny rushed for
over 200 yards twice and David three times. Blake Gardner accomplished the feat twice.

- The 216 rushing yards by Grant Gardner were the most by a Rocket since week 5 of the 2009 season when Brian Berry ran for 216 yards against Caldwell County. It was the most in a season opener since 2008 when Rodney Robertson rushed for 258 yards against Lake County (TN). And, it was the most ever in a home opener.
