On the first weekend of scholastic football, Crittenden County's middle school team beat Massac County, Ill., at Rocket Stadium and the high school team turned in a good showing against Trigg County.
On Friday, the Rocket varsity team played three quarters against vs. Trigg at Christian County. The Rocket JV team scrimmaged during the fourth period. Trigg's team scored five times and Crittenden once during the preseason workout, but CCHS coach Al Starnes saw several positive aspects from the scrimmage. Running back Lane Wallace hurt his ankle, but the coaching staff believes he will be okay for this week's opener against Fulton City.
Fulton will be at Marion Friday for the 7 p.m., kickoff.
In middle school action Saturday, Crittenden manhandled Massac by the score of 40-12. It was superior performance for the young Rockets led by quarterback Hunter Boone.
