McCalister, Thompson earn district honors

McCalister
Crittenden County senior linebacker/running back Caden McCalister has been selected Player of the Year in the First District Class A.

McCalister is second on the team in tackles with 57 this season and he has rushed for 289 yards and has 26 yards receiving. His breakout game was against Russellville during the regular season when he rushed for 197 yards after running back Xander Tabor left the game with a broken ankle. McCalister has been the team’s featured back since that time.

Rocket coach Sean Thompson was selected Coach of the Year in the First District Class A. It was his second straight selection as the division’s top skipper. Thompson is 27-7 in three seasons as the Rockets’ head coach.

He is a former CCHS quarterback who played collegiately at Campbellsville.

Thompson
Thompson has guided his teams to a regular-season district championship in each of his first three seasons and is seeking a third straight post-season district crown this Friday when the Rockets host Russellville in the Class A playoffs. His previous two teams have both reached the state quarterfinals.

Friday's game can be viewed on the National Federation of High Schools Sports Network.

The West Kentucky Conference will announce its All WKC selections at the end of postseason.
