AT A GLANCE: Trigg County

BY: ANDY HUNT

Week 6 Review

  • David Beverly (1995-98) has third
    most offensive yards in
    school history with 3,938.
Luke Crider threw for 302 yards which is only the sixth time a Rocket QB has eclipsed the 300-yard mark in a single game.  The last time it occurred was in 2018 by Hunter Boone.
  • Luke Crider broke the record for pass attempts in a game with 44.  The previous record holder was Hunter Boone with 43.  Boone’s record was set in the 74-70 game versus Ballard Memorial in 2017.
  • Luke Crider broke the record for pass completions in a game with 27.  The previous record holder was Hunter Boone with 25.  Boone’s record was set in the 2016 matchup with Bethlehem.
  • With Luke Crider’s performance last week, he became the 10th Rocket to have 3,000 or more yards of offensive in a career.  The other nine are Hunter Boone, J.D. Gray, David Beverly, Nick Castiller, Austin Berry, Devon Nesbitt, Jamie Curtis, Jimmy Hopper, and Xander Tabor.  “Yards of Offense” include rushing and passing yards.
  • CC has passed for 30 or more times in the past two games.  Only three other times has CC had back-to-back games with at least 30 pass attempts.  The other occurrences were in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons.  30 or more pass attempts in three consecutive games have never happened for CC.
  • Luke Crider has passed 74 times in the past two games combined.  74 pass attempts are the most in two consecutive games in the history of CC football.   The most in a three game span is 101 (Trigg, Caldwell, Webster in 2017).  Crider would need 28 attempts to break this record.
  • Preston Morgeson will become only the 4th player to amass over 1,000 career yards receiving by the end of his junior year with 94 more yards receiving this season.  The other three are Ethan Dossett, T.K. Guess, and Chad Perryman.

T.K. Guess (2002-2005) is one of only three players to have 1,000 career receiving yards by the end of their junior season.  Current Rocket, Preston Morgeson is 94 yards away from from becoming the 4th player.
  • Brysen Baker’s eight receptions last week were the 15th time in school history a Rocket player has caught eight or more passes in a single game.
  • Luke Crider became only the third Rocket quarterback to throw for 300 or more yards in a game joining Austin Berry and Hunter Boone.
  • Bethlehem had 20 incomplete passes which is the most incomplete passes a team has ever thrown against CC and still won the game.
  • Bethlehem completed 35.5% of 31 passing attempts (11 completions).   No opponent of CC has ever beaten CC with a lower completion percentage (minimum 23 pass attempts).
  • Bethlehem averaged 3.48 yards per pass attempt last week.  Only two other times ever has a CC opponent attempted at least one pass, averaged less than 3.48 yards per pass attempt, and beat the Rockets.  Oddly enough, one of those two other times was Caldwell County this year (2.38 yards per attempt) and the other was against Campbellsville in 2018 (2.19 yards per attempt).
  • Last week, CC had 71 official offensive plays.  71 plays are the 8th most ever in a single game for CC.  The record is 80 plays versus Union County in 2015.  In case you were wondering, in the 70-74 shootout versus Ballard Memorial in 2017, the Rockets only had 62 offensive plays.  The most offensive plays ran against CC is 84 by Ballard Memorial in 2018, the year after the 70-74 game.

2021 District 1A, District 1 Review – Week 6

  • Russellville (6-1) – RHS has an open week this week to prepare for intercounty rival, Logan County.  Logan County boasts a 6-1 record currently and faces Madisonville-North Hopkins this week.
