Week 10 Review - DeSales

  • Micah Newcom had one of the most complete passing performances in school history.  Here is a snapshot of Newcom’s game:
    • 289 Passing Yards – 10th most in a single game
    • 23 Completions – Tied for fourth most in a single game
    • 5 Passing TDs – Tied for second most in a single game
    • 76.67% Completion Percentage – 7th best in a single game & the best single game, completion percentage in school history for a QB with at least 30 attempts in a game.
    • Additionally, Newcom has not thrown an interception in the last four games.  Newcom has attempted 73 passes in those games.
  • Preston Morgeson caught his 23rd career receiving touchdown.  He is now tied with Ethan Dossett for the all-time lead.
  • Preston Morgeson also became the second Rocket to ever have 100 or more receptions in his career (Ethan Dossett, 127).
  • Kaleb Nesbitt had one the best receiving games in school history to go along with Newcom’s passing success last week.  Nesbitt’s stats looked like this:
    • 159 Receiving Yards – 5th most in a single game
      • Only one player has had more receiving yards in a game in the last 17 seasons.
    • 9 Receptions – Tied for 6th most in a single game
    • 3 Receiving Touchdowns – Tied 2nd most in a single game

  • After last week’s game, Micah Newcom reached the minimum passing attempt threshold for the KHSAA record book in the statistical category of completion percentage in a season.  Micah Newcom has a 69.11% completion percentage which would be the 25th best in Kentucky high school football history.  Players must have a completion percentage of at least 65% and 175 passing attempts to be listed in the KHSAA record book.  Newcom has 191 passing attempts in 2022.  Below is an excerpt from the KHSAA record book.
