MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Crittenden County’s final warmup to the football season didn’t go too well. The Rockets were outmanned Thursday in a 34-7 loss at Madisonville.
The Maroons’ big front line commanded the game, sacking Rocket quarterback Micah Newcom three times and used pressure to force Newcom to throw it away three times.
Offensively, Casey Cates caught five passes, Tyler Belt four and Gabe Keller two, including a five-yard touchdown on the final series. Belt and Gattin Travis ran the ball well. Travis had the longest carry of the game with a 32-yarder.
Madisonville scored on five of its eight offensive series.
The Rockets open the regular season Friday at Webster County.
